BAMS

Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) is a professional undergraduate medical program focused on the ancient Indian system of medicine known as Ayurveda. The course provides in-depth knowledge of Ayurvedic principles, herbal medicine, natural healing, and modern medical sciences. Students study subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, surgery (Shalya Tantra), and Ayurvedic therapies like Panchakarma. BAMS integrates traditional healing methods with modern medical practices, enabling students to diagnose and treat patients using natural and holistic approaches. The program also includes clinical training and internships to provide real-world medical experience.

To pursue BAMS, students must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from a recognized board. A minimum aggregate score of around 45% to 60% is generally required, depending on the institution. Admission to BAMS courses in India is primarily based on the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) examination, followed by counseling. Students interested in traditional medicine, herbal treatments, and holistic healthcare are well-suited for this course.

After completing BAMS, students have diverse career opportunities in the healthcare and wellness sector. They can work as Ayurvedic doctors in hospitals, clinics, wellness centers, and government healthcare institutions. Graduates can also start their own Ayurvedic clinics or practice privately. Additionally, they can pursue higher studies such as MD/MS in Ayurveda or specialize in areas like Panchakarma, herbal medicine, or research. With the growing global demand for natural and alternative medicine, BAMS offers a stable and respected career with opportunities both in India and abroad.
